Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has provided an update on his future.
It has been reported that Shaqiri would like to depart Anfield this summer.
However, the Swiss international has made it clear that he will make a decision on his future after the Euros.
As quoted by Anfield Watch’s Twitter account, Shaqiri told The Mirror the following: “After the Euros, of course, I will talk to my agent.”
Shaqiri added: “We will look at the situation and then we will decide how to proceed.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Liverpool signed Shaqiri from Stoke City for a transfer fee of €14.70 million back in the summer of 2018.
Shaqiri has scored eight goals and registered nine assists in 63 appearances for the club.
If Shaqiri does want to play regular senior football, we would not be surprised to see the 29-year-old attempt to depart the club this summer.
The reality is, Shaqiri is behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota in the pecking order.
That is a key reason why Shaqiri has not played much football for Liverpool’s first-team.
Shaqiri’s contract does not expire until the summer of 2023. Therefore, if Shaqiri and Liverpool do agree to part ways this summer, the club should be looking to sell the winger for €12 million.
The aforementioned figure is Shaqiri’s current market value.
