All roads now lead to Madrid for Liverpool.
June’s Champions League final date with Tottenham Hotspur at the Wanda Metropolitano is at the forefront of everyone connected with the side’s thoughts.
The squad themselves are enjoying a reasonably relaxed build-up to the game though.
Xherdan Shaqiri and co. are in the midst of a six-day warm-weather training camp in Marbella ahead of the final and he believes it is was a wise move to take that trip ahead of such an important game.
“The most important thing for a big group is to have togetherness and we have that,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
“We’ve had a few players who didn’t play but shown that our togetherness is very strong. That’s always important, especially with this game coming up.
@Liverpool FC –
“It is always good to have a training camp together, for everyone to stay together all day, enjoy the sun and train hard. That’s important for our group.
“It gives you strength for the coming days and hopefully for the game. We feel good and we’re slowly building up to the game now.”
Shaqiri has previous experience of winning the Champions League, when his Bayern Munich side overcame current coach Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund in the 2013 final.
