Xavi Hernández has been pushing for more than just a minor overhaul of Barcelona’s first-team squad for the upcoming season.

Barcelona’s coach has secured a commitment from the club’s president to enter the transfer market with ample resources, aiming beyond mere midfield and left-wing additions.

As per Diario Sport, one prominent name on Xavi’s list of requests is Xavi Simons. The Dutchman possesses several qualities lacking in the current squad: boldness in one-on-one situations, versatility, finishing, and most notably, ambition in the final third of the pitch.

Essentially, Xavi is on the lookout for talented players capable of being creative in crucial moments, moving beyond mere possession-based football.

Xavi and Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, have already initiated discussions with Simons, his representatives, and PSG to assess the feasibility of the player’s return next season.

Simons is aware of the coach’s interest, as is his agent. In contrast, Luis Enrique and Luis Campos, PSG’s coach and sporting director respectively, are also mindful of Barcelona’s pursuit of one of their hottest prospects.

However, Xavi’s desires might be difficult to accomplish. Deco has relayed Luis Enrique’s initial plans for the upcoming season, which do not include parting ways with Xavi Simons.
