Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Xavi’s current situation at Barcelona could impact the signing of Guido Rodriguez for the team.

He explained that the Real Betis midfielder is waiting for Barcelona’s decision, but the uncertainty surrounding the manager is crucial.

“Guido Rodriguez is waiting for Barcelona, but of course, the managerial situation will be important because Xavi approved his signing,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.

Just a week ago, it was reported that Rodriguez was set to become Barcelona’s first summer signing. He had agreed to a pre-contract with the club, set to join on a free transfer.

Xavi was keen on signing a defensive midfielder, and Rodriguez, with his experience and the low cost of the transfer, seemed like the best option.

Barcelona and Rodriguez reached a verbal agreement on his contract and the 30-year-old midfielder agreed to a two-year deal with Barcelona, with the option to extend for another year, potentially keeping him at the club until 2027.

Xavi’s future is in trouble and so is Rodriguez’s

Since that event, much has changed at Barcelona. Xavi’s recent comments about the club’s financial troubles before the Almeria match have caused a major stir.

As a result, Xavi’s future with the club is uncertain, and it now seems more likely that he will leave rather than stay.

Meanwhile, Real Betis are not willing to let Rodriguez go without a fight. Despite the advanced negotiations for his move to Barcelona, Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini is determined to keep him beyond this season.

As a result, the outcome of the upcoming meeting between Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta and Xavi on Sunday will directly affect Rodriguez’s potential transfer.

If Xavi is dismissed, it would make sense for the club to pause any transfers until they consult with the new manager.

At this moment, everything regarding Xavi and Rodriguez is uncertain and only the future of the Barcelona manager will determine what happens next with Rodriguez’s potential move to Catalonia.
