There is no doubt that Xavi’s influence has been critical behind Barcelona’s impressive transfer window so far.

The Barça coach has pitched his ideas brilliantly to the new players, explaining the tactical and sporting aspects of his project to each and every signing. It has ultimately helped the club acquire the services of talented stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde.

However, as we enter the final phase of the summer transfer window, Xavi has one last wish in the market. He wants to rope in Bernardo Silva and despite no real progress in the negotiations, remains adamant about signing the Manchester City superstar.

This has been reported by Javi Miguel, who suggests Xavi has not yet given up the pursuit of Silva even though Barcelona have not made any positive stride so far.

It appears the Barça head coach is looking for a leader in all of the three departments. His team has already brought in Jules Kounde in defence while Robert Lewandowski should spearhead the attack.

But as far as the midfield is concerned, Xavi considers Bernardo Silva to be the ideal solution. The Man City superstar offers the experience and pedigree at the highest level of football while his technical and creative prowess should make him the ideal partner for Pedri in the interior midfield slot.

However, as mentioned earlier, Barcelona’s chances of signing the former AS Monaco starlet are not that high, especially at this stage of the transfer market.

Manchester City are reportedly not even considering any new offers for the Portuguese international, knowing they will have very little time to find a replacement. Barça, though, are expected to fight on until the very end, in their quest to sign the influential playmaker.
