Barcelona cemented their place in the top four with a win against Celta Vigo in midweek, and have the chance to hold on to the second place with as little as a draw against Getafe tomorrow.

The game is set to take place at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in the capital of Spain, and is of utmost importance to the Madrid outfit. Points against Barcelona tomorrow can officially save them from relegation.

Ahead of the clash, Barça Universal follows Xavi’s pre-game press conference in this thread below.

On the game: “We will try to take another step forward tomorrow. Tomorrow we will try and create chances, and eventually win.”

On Ronald Araujo’s participation: “He wants to play tomorrow, which means a lot to us. He fainted for a moment in the Celta game, but it will depend on his feelings.”

On Barcelona’s plan next season: “As a coach I will take the responsibility for making decisions and communicating them to the management. Things depend on our economic situation, in a few days we will know better about it, and then we will start planning for next season.”

On Frenkie de Jong’s future: “He’s an important player for me, and he started every ame except for a few due to rotations. But it depends on the economic situation. For me, Frenkie could be one of the club legends.”

On the ‘untouchables’ in the squad: “There are some, absolutely. But we have to determine that after knowing our economic condition.”

On fans’ expectations from the transfer window: “I’m an optimist. I think the team has to be competitive. We didn’t manage to compete at a high level this season, but next season we have to fight for trophies.”

On Alvaro Morata’s transfer links: “I understand these questions, but I will not answer any questions about player who are not in the team, it doesn’t help us. If you want to talk about Frenkie, please ask.”

On Robert Lewandowski and his age: “I’m not going to talk about Lewandowski now. But I should remind you, I agreed to sign Dani Alves. All we care about is the professional mentality.”

“Players like Zlatan, Modric, Ronaldo, Messi…they are still playing at a high level. Age is not an obstacle.”

On talking to the players on sale: “I have not spoken to the players yet, because we have not made a decision yet. We have not reached our goal yet, we want all the players to focus on our goals and then plan after that.”

On bringing a ‘big’ name: “This is not the time to talk about that. Management knows my opinion, we must make a competitive team.”

On the possibility of Nico Gonzalez going to loan: “For me, he is an important player. He has scored goals, I’m glad he’s there. We depend on him.”

On Alejandro Balde: “Balde will probably have a few minutes tomorrow. We count on him and he can be an important player on the team. It applies to all players.”

On Adama Traore: “We will make a decision as soon as we know the situation of the team. It is true that he played well when he came, but he is competing with Ferran and Dembele.”

“When Adama was in better form than Dembele, he was playing. We make our choices based on every match.”

On target players’ ages: “We want to sign players who can make a difference and improve the team further. Certainly a player from 25 to 33 is more mature than a young player. Age is not a priority for us, but we take that into accounts for our choices.”
