As part of the routine press conference ahead of the Bayer Munich clash, Xavi seemed pretty optimistic about the proceedings that will take place tomorrow. Anything but a win will shift the momentum towards Benfica, who will have to take points from their game against Dynamo Kyiv.

On the game: “We face the game with great enthusiasm, Bayern are one of the worst possible rivals, they are one of the best teams in the world and we play in their stadium, the difficulty is extreme but we depend on ourselves.”

On never winning at the Allianz Arena: “History is there to break it.”

On their history against Bayern: “We are prepared to compete, I hope the last defeats against Bayern do not affect us psychologically. I tell the players that now all the pressure is on me. We are going to try it.”

On Bayern’s mighty team: “In recent years Bayern have been better than Barça but football always gives you revenge.”

On Ousmane Dembele: “Dembélé is motivated, I see him happy and tomorrow he has to be a very important player for us. But not only him, it has to be a great performance of the whole team.”

On Jordi Alba’s injury: “Alba had discomfort on Saturday but we will see how he trains and how he is tomorrow. He wants to play.”

On the team’s chances: “We are working to win tomorrow to be in the round of 16. La Liga will tell us where we are at the end of the season, but we are Barça and we cannot give up in any competition, tomorrow we have an opportunity to make history by achieving our first victory in Munich.”

On Robert Lewandowski: “Lewandowski has been making a difference for many years. Not only for his goals, but for many other things. If he is not the best, he is one of the best in the world.”

On Benfica’s game: “In case of not winning we also depend on the result of Benfica.”

On there being no fans in the stadium: “It is a shame that there is no public because in the end we play for the fans.”
