Xavi Simons has joined PSV Eindhoven from Paris Saint-Germain in a surprise permanent deal.
It was expected that the teenager would move to the Dutch side on a one-year loan contract.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder broke into the first-team squad in the French capital last year and featured six times in Ligue 1 as well as three times in the Coupe de France (picking up one assist).
PSV finished second in the Eredivise last year, two points off winners Ajax and are expected to mount a title challenge next season.
Reports in France claim that there is a buy-back clause in the agreement, which may explain PSG’s willingness to agree to the free transfer.
Simons joined PSG in 2019 for free, in a somewhat controversial fashion, having graduated from Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth academy.
