With second place confirmed and a spot in the next edition of the Spanish Super Cup fully guaranteed, Xavi Hernandez has decided to reward the Barcelona squad with three days off, reports AS.

The 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano at Montjuic last night ensured that Barcelona will finish second in La Liga, which was the main objective after losing out to Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.

It ascertained their qualification for the Spanish Super Cup for next season where they will face the winners of this season’s Copa del Rey – Athletic Club.

As such, Xavi has decided to give the players three days off, although this Monday cannot be considered a rest day as such, as the training is voluntary.

This means that several members of the staff will be present, especially from the medical services, in case any of the players come in for recovery work, which is usual after the effort of a match.

Apart from the voluntary session on Monday, the squad will have two days off, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The latter has not yet been approved, but the intention of the coaches is to grant it so that the players can enjoy three days off before facing the last game of the season in Seville.

So, if Wednesday is also confirmed, the team will return to training on Thursday, bearing in mind that La Liga has finally modified the schedule for the match against Sevilla: it will be played on Sunday 26th at 9 pm at the Sánchez Pizjuán.

In any case, everything points to a relatively quiet week for the Blaugrana – with the minimum target achieved – except obviously for Xavi, who will continue to live in suspense about his future, with the threat of dismissal at the end of the season.
