Choosing for the starting wingers has been difficult for Xavi Hernandez so far.

The Spanish manager has been vocal about his preference for wide-wingers who like to take on the defenders. Further, his first two games have provided a fair idea about the role of the wide players in his tactics, both on and off the ball.

Xavi opted to play Gavi on the left-wing and Iias Akomach on the right in his first game against Espanyol. Ilias was, however, was replaced by Abde in the second half who provided a much more refreshing display filled with intent and zest.

The manager did not have either of the youngsters to call up against Benfica in the Champions League. Prompted by the circumstances, he had to change his formation on the night to one with three-central defenders.

Looking ahead to the game ahead against Villareal, there are still uncertainties in the forward line. Despite making his return against Benfica, Ousmane Dembélé is not ready to start. Ansu Fati too in out injured and will not be available for selection.

Xavi has three options on his hands. Yusuf Demir is the first of the three. The Austrian provided a refreshing performance against the Portuguese opposition midweek and could earn a second straight start.

Meanwhile, Ilias and Abde will both be available for selection once again. All three wingers have shown glimpses of their talent, but are yet to prove their consistency.

Xavi has quality options to choose from, but it remains to be seen which one of the three manages to convince the manager with consistency.
