An insight into the plans of Barcelona head coach Xavi for a leading member of his defensive ranks beyond the summer has today been forthcoming online.

Stopper Koundé, for his part, has of course continued to play a pivotal role for Barcelona across the season to date.

After a difficult first half of the term at right-back, the Frenchman has since grown into the role in hugely impressive fashion, establishing himself as one of the Blaugrana’s most consistent performers over recent months.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to hear that boss Xavi intends to shift Koundé from his role out wide for the 2024/25 campaign.

As per the aforementioned MD, Barca’s headmaster is seeking reinforcements at right-back in the summer.

As much could come by way of a fresh deal for Manchester City’s João Cancelo, or the on-loan Julián Araujo being afforded a first-team spot back in Catalunya’s capital.

This comes amid confirmation that Xavi intends to move Koundé back into his more natural role at the heart of defence next season.
