With the 44-year-old club legend set to continue, it is likely to impact the futures of some of the players in the squad.

As reported earlier, Xavi’s continuity will potentially lead to a new contract for Sergi Roberto, while the future of another captain, Ronald Araujo, is also likely to be influenced.

Xavi eager for Araujo to stay

Indeed, as per Mundo Deportivo, Xavi intends to keep his best players at Barcelona beyond the summer, with Araujo happening to be one of them.

The centre-back has a great offer from Bayern Munich, who see him as a priority target. But Xavi considers that the best thing is for the Uruguayan international to continue.

In fact, the Barcelona manager has already tried to convince Araujo to stay and will continue to make efforts to ensure that he is at the club next season.

Araujo prioritising Barcelona continuity

Furthermore, the report states that Ronald Araujo himself is prioritising his continuity at Barcelona beyond the summer.

The 25-year-old’s entourage has some concerns about the contract proposal made by the Blaugrana and might try to influence the decision over his future.

Yet, with Xavi set to stay and keen to keep hold of the Uruguayan international, it appears that Araujo could very well end up snubbing Bayern Munich in favour of a continued stay at Barcelona.
