Xavi’s future at Barcelona is the talks of the town in Catalonia, and rightly so, given the repercussions it will bear on the team’s future.

Barely a month after announcing his continuity as the coach of FC Barcelona, the Spanish tactician is now said to be close to the exit door with Joan Laporta furious at him for his words in a recent press conference.

In fact, multiple outlets reported that Xavi was certainly on his way out of the Catalan bench as early as the ongoing week.

Looking to rebuild bridges

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Xavi knew nothing of the president’s desire to sack him after the recent fallout and woke up the the news in the Spanish media himself.

The only call between Laporta and Xavi in recent hours, in fact, is said to be the president’s congratulatory message after the win over Almeria.

Hearing of the developments in the board, Xavi requested a meeting with the club president to clarify his situation and find a solution that suited all parties involved.

His request, however, was rejected and his appointment was pushed and scheduled for next week.

Laporta reportedly wants to let a few days go and see how the situation evolves and decide the future of Barcelona’s bench with Deco later this week.

Xavi’s firm stance

The Spanish outlet also furthers that Xavi has no intention of leaving Barcelona at the moment, more so after just clarifying his future in recent weeks.

He is excited and prepared for the challenges ahead and hopes to take the dressing room to greater heights in the coming season, irrespective of how challenging the path may be.

As it stands, Xavi has informed his staff about the lack of official information regarding his sacking and thus asked them to detach from the news going around. All eyes are on the game against Rayo Vallecano, and Xavi will be on the sidelines on the night as things stand.
