Manchester City now have a Liverpool target on THEIR OWN manager shortlist as they consider life after Pep Guardiola.
Diario AS reports that Manchester City are one of several clubs looking at Xabi Alonso. The Bayer Leverkusen boss was a target for Liverpool this year, of course, before ultimately deciding to remain with his club.
Alonso has since clinched the Bundesliga title - Leverkusen's first - which has only enhanced his reputation further. There will almost certainly be a push for his signature next year as a result, with clubs already lining up.

Pep Guardiola hit out at his Manchester City side’s gruelling fixture schedule following their FA Cup semi-final win against Chelsea on Saturday.
The defending FA Cup holders went into the Saturday tea-time clash against the Blues having dropped out of the Champions League on Wednesday night at the quarter-final stage.
City lost to Real Madrid at home on penalty kicks, ending their hopes for consecutive trebles, meaning any potential glory is now confined to the domestic prizes for this campaign.

Liverpool's Premier League title aspirations remain alive after the Reds' resounding 3-1 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. And vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has come out fighting.
With the Reds now level on points with league leaders Arsenal and one point ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand, Alexander-Arnold expressed Liverpool's clear objective: to secure victory in every remaining game.
Ruben Amorim, the hot favourite to become the next Liverpool manager, is now within touching distance of title glory in Portugal with Sporting CP.
Amorim's league leaders crushed Vitoria SC 3-0 in the capital on Sunday night to move a step closer to another championship.
Pedro Gonvalves opened the scoring with a sweet strike on the half hour, before hot property Viktor Gyokeres finished a brilliant move to double that advantage on the stroke of half-time. Gyokeres added his second and Sporting's third four minutes after the restart.
Sporting now lead Benfica at the top by 10 points with four games remaining, having played a game more than their bitter local rivals. They could clinch the title as early as next weekend, when they travel to Porto.
