Xabi Alonso provides fresh future update amid mounting Real Madrid links | OneFootball

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has on Friday spoken out on his future once more.

This of course comes amid mounting speculation pointing towards an imminent move to La Liga giants Real Madrid on the part of the former midfielder.

Reigning Spanish champions Real are set to make a change on the bench this summer, as Carlo Ancelotti prepares to bring his latest Blancos stint to a close.

Despite links with a whole host of tacticians, it is the aforementioned Alonso who is considered the heavy favourite to replace Ancelotti, considered the perfect profile by those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu.

During his latest appearance in front of the media on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future was once more put to Alonso himself.

The Spaniard, however, opted to remain tight-lipped, simply explaining:

“I have nothing new to say [on my future], the answer is the same: we need to wait. The communication with the club is always good. There’s clarity between everyone.”
