For once, Wycombe started well and got and got themselves early goal.

A mistake from Finley Burns allowed Dan Udoh clean through. He squared it to Fred Onyedinma who rolled it past Joel Pereira for his first goal of 2025.

However, Wanderers completely dropped off as the half went on, allowing for a quickfire Reading double from Mamadi Camara and a stunner from Lewis Wing to turn the game on its head in a matter of minutes.

After Mark O'Mahoney smashed the bar early in the second-half, Wycombe probed to get an equaliser, and did just that with two minutes left when James Tilley headed home a Taylor Allen cross, which saw the match end in a 2-2 draw.

The teams came out to a rapturous ovation from both sets of supporters, with each set of fans realising the importance of three points today.

For Wycombe, they started brightly, and were finally awarded with a first-half goal. Dan Udoh outmuscled Burns from a long ball and broke free down the left. He squared it to Onyedinma, who rolled it past Joel Pereira.

The Nigerian could've made it two just minutes later from another quick break by the home side, but Pereira was there to deny with a flying save.

Down the other end, van Sas had to prevent a driven strike by Charlie Savage from the edge of the box, before Pereira once again kept his side in it by denying Onyedinma one-on-one after a long ball from Jamie Mullins.

Just after the half-hour mark, van Sas had to deny O'Mahoney's header from close range with a diving save. The Royals had slowly grown into the game after falling behind early on.

Wing then loaded up one of his trademark strikes, which had the whole stadium holding its breath, but thankfully for Wycombe it sailed wide of the post.

Just before half-time, Reading got what they deserved with an equaliser. Wing's cross was met by Camara, who somehow beat Jack Grimmer in the air to loop his header into the roof of the net.

Just minutes later, Wycombe gifted the visitors the ball from messing around at the back. A deflected shot fell kindly to the former Wanderers fan favourite, who stunned his old club with a wonderful strike to turn the game on its head.

The half ended with the home fans left stunned, after a quickfire Reading double rendered Wycombe's fast start completely irrelevant, and gave Noel Hunt's side a 2-1 advantage as they headed in at the break.

Mike Dodds made two changes at half-time, bringing on Caolan Boyd-Munce and Taylor Allen for Alex Lowry and George Abbott. This saw centre-back Allen deployed as a left-winger.

Wing nearly rubbed salt further into the wounds of the Chairboys, as another well-worked move allowed him to have a drive from distance again, which would've given the hosts a mountain to climb.

On the hour mark, it was nearly 3-1 to the Royals as Dodds' side were once again guilty of sitting off once again, allowing O'Mahoney to shoot from distance. His effort was deflected and cannoned off the crossbar for a corner kick.

In fairness to the home supporters, they stuck with their side whilst they searched for an equaliser, but a small section of the terrace started venting their frustration at the Wycombe head coach.

Allen went close for the Blues after some nice link-up play between Udoh and substitute Magnus Westergaard found the defender in the box, but his effort was saved by the faultless Pereira.

Westergaard himself then fired a golden chance well over the bar from inside the box. The ball fell kindly to him from a deep free-kick, but the Dane snatched at the chance, and smashed into the packed-out away end.

With just two minutes on the clock, the contest was level once again. After probing away for most of the half, Wycombe were rewarded when substitutes Allen and Tilley combined. The former's cross was headed in by the latter, to set up a dramatic finale.

Van Sas had to then be called into action down the other end, as Grimmer was once again easily beaten in the air, and Liam Fraser's shot from close range had to be tipped around the post.

Neither team could find a breakthrough though, as referee Alex Chilowicz brought the game to a close, and the game ended in a stalemate.

Truthfully, a draw did nothing for either side, as they both sit in the relegation zone in League One.
