WSL: Who will be crowned champions based on reverse results | OneFootball

With just a handful of Women’s Super League games remaining, Manchester City and Chelsea are leading the title race. City are currently top of the table, three points clear of Chelsea, but the Blues have a crucial game in-hand.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool round out the top five — the Gunners are six points adrift of the top spot but sit nine points clear of any competition for the final European qualifying place.

As the last games of the 2023/24 season play out, we’ve taken a look at how the final standings at the top of the WSL table would look based on reverse results. We have examined the upcoming fixtures and compared them to the results earned in the previous meetings with each respective club.

5th: Manchester United (35 points)

Man United have been battling with Liverpool for a top four finish but based on their form against their remaining opponents, they will finish just shy of their rivals with 35 points for the season. A convincing win over Tottenham Hotspur and a 1-1 draw went alongside defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea.

4th: Liverpool (36 points)

Based on their previous results, Liverpool would take seven points from their final four games, seeing them finish in fourth place, one point ahead of Man United. A draw against Bristol City, alongside wins over United and Leicester City would leave the Reds on 36 points.

3rd: Arsenal (52 points)

Four wins from four in their reverse results would see Arsenal take a full deck of 12 points in this final WSL push. Resounding victories over Leicester and Brighton could see Jonas Eidevall’s team canter to a perfect finish. The sweep of points would leave the Gunners third in the table, claiming the final European qualification spot.

2nd: Manchester City (55 points)

Nine points from their final four games would leave Gareth Taylor’s side sitting second in the WSL. Man City earned wins against West Ham, Bristol City and Aston Villa, but fell to a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal when they last met in November. Based on their reverse results, a total tally of 55 points would see the Sky Blues come up short in this thrilling title race.

1st: Chelsea (58 points)

Five wins from their five remaining games would see Chelsea round off Emma Hayes’ final season with a fifth consecutive title. The Blues claimed victories over Liverpool, Aston Villa, Bristol City, Tottenham and Manchester United. If Hayes’ side can replicate the results, they’ll finish three points clear at the top of the table.
