France international Vivianne Asseyi went close midway through the first half, striking the post for the Hammers with an audacious shot from distance.

It was then Leicester’s turn to be denied by the woodwork as Jemma Purfield’s corner was flicked onto the bar and West Ham managed to clear.

Just as the game seemed to be heading for a stalemate, West Ham won the ball high up the pitch and Izzy Atkinson made her way through the Leicester defence to slot home beyond goalkeeper Demi Lambourne.

From earlier…

Liverpool late comeback

Scorers: Terland 21′, Carter 26′ (PEN), Robinson 34′; Kearns 17′, Van de Sanden 76′, Furness 90+2′

Liverpool were off to a flying start when a smart pullback from Melissa Lawley was met with a curled finish from Missy Bo Kearns, but any joy from that goal was short lived.

Just four minutes later, an excellent cross from Katie Robinson was headed home by Elisabeth Terland, and Brighton were in front when Danielle Carter converted a penalty.

The comeback was complete when Robinson went for goal herself, her excellent shot from the right flank finding the top corner and Brighton were 3-1 to the good at half-time.

Liverpool weren’t done though, and punished Brighton for leaving Shanice van de Sanden unmarked in the box as the experienced 30-year-old tapped home an easy finish.

And the second comeback of the game was complete when Rachel Furness made it 3-3 with a flying header at the death.

Rachel Daly hat-trick hero for Villa

Scorers: Daly 37, 45+2′, 76 (PEN); Wade 7′

Reading had the lead early on, when a long ball from a free kick was flicked on for Lauren Wade, who lifted her boot high to make a smart finish.

Yet the Royals were in trouble just before half time as England international Rachel Daly guided a header into the far corner to level the scores, and repeated that feat with another headed goal just ten minutes later.

On 65 minutes, the away side were down to ten when Jacqueline Burns was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

When Villa were awarded a penalty, it was of course Daly who stepped up to take it, completing her hat-trick and sealing the three points.

Chelsea move back to the top

Scorers: Kerr 12′, Cuthbert 26′, Reiten (PEN) 36′.

Chelsea blew Tottenham away in the first half to move back to the top of the table.

The champions scored three goals inside the first 36 minutes to take the game away from Marc Skinner’s side with Sam Kerr giving them the lead after getting on to a long ball forward from Mille Bright before cutting back on her right foot and firing across goal.

Erin Cuthbert doubled that advantage after Guiro Reiten’s corner fell to her at the edge of the box before bending a shot into the roof of the net.

Reiten then put the game beyond doubt from the spot after Lauren James had been sent tumbling in the area.
