Manchester United Women have had three players named in the PFA WSL Team of the Year for the 2024/2025 season.
The Red Devils lost key players like Mary Earps and Katie Zelem in the summer of 2024 and many tipped the team to struggle despite winning the FA Cup.
This was not to be the case though as Marc Skinner’s youthful side finished third in the league and reached the final of the FA Cup for a third consecutive season.
As a result, the Women’s Super League has recognised the contribution of three United players.
The club’s official website reports that “Phallon Tullis-Joyce, Maya Le Tissier and Jayde Riviere were recognised for their efforts in helping the Reds to third place last season, in a ceremony held at the Manchester Opera House.”
The American keeper did an admirable job replacing Mary Earps and won the competition’s golden glove award, keeping an incredible 13 clean sheets from 22 matches.
She not only nailed down her role as United’s undisputed number one but earned her first senior cap for the United States national team.
Le Tissier has been a model of consistency over the last few years, earning her second spot in the team of the year in three seasons.
She played 31 games in all competitions last year, scoring five goals as a centre back.
The youngster’s importance to the team is highlighted by the fact she is club captain despite her relatively young age of 23-years-old.
The Canadian right back is perhaps not as discussed in the media as the other two United members of the Team of the Year but that does not detract from her importance to the squad.
She was an integral part of a defence that only conceded 16 goals in 22 matches last season in the league, playing in 22 matches in all competitions.
There was also a place on the team for former Red Devil Alessia Russo, who now plays for Arsenal.
United Women take on Liverpool tonight in their final pre-season match before they face PSV Eindhoven in a crucial Champions League qualifier on 27th August.
