It is deadline day in the Womenâs Super League on Thursday and Manchester United are, one way or another, set to dominate the headlines.
The biggest question right now is whether or not England number one Mary Earps will still be playing for the club come Friday morning.
Awarded the Golden Glove this summer after a superb World Cup, Earps was crowned Goalkeeper of the Year for 2022 at FIFAâs The Best awards back in February and is now almost unanimously considered one of the worldâs leading shot stoppers.
However, she has just one year remaining on her Manchester United contract and does not look likely to sign a new deal.
That has attracted interest, with one club â said to be Arsenal â reportedly already having a world record bid for a goalkeeper knocked back this summer.
Whether or not the Gunners follow up with another remains to be seen but United already lost Alessia Russo to the north London club this summer for nothing after turning down a world record offer in January and a repeat would not look good.
Earps aside, it looks like United will also be busy in terms of incomings and theyâll be spending plenty of money.
Even if Earps stays, the club are set to add OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce for a world record sum for a goalkeeper.
And they wonât be stopping there.
According to news on Wednesday, the club have set out to pay the ÂŁ150k release clause in Gabby Georgeâs Everton contract.
The move would help United replace Ona Batlle, who agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer ahead of starring for Spain as they won the World Cup.
Fellow World Cup winner Irene Guerrero is closing in on a move from Atlético de Madrid after Vilde BÞe Risa moved the other way earlier this week.
And Rich Laverty reports early on Thursday that there could be more yet as talks take place with Lyon over a potential loan deal for France international forward Melvine Malard.
