The WSL was back and back with a bang this weekend! Here are our awards after an important weekend at both ends of the table.
Who else but Sam Kerr to deny Arsenal a big win at the Emirates Stadium? The Gunners were minutes away from beating title rivals Chelsea but Kerr found a late equaliser.
The goal also saw her equal history, tying ex-Chelsea team-mate Beth England on a record 17 headed WSL goals.
Before the break, Leicester had scored two goals in nine WSL games so far this season. On Sunday they scored three, including this lovely move.
The Great Escape might be on.
And it wasn’t just about the goals, with goalkeeper Janina Leitzig producing this on her debut.
Gabby George delivered the weekend’s best strike as Everton won 3-2 against Reading.
With Arsenal dropping points, Manchester Untied had the chance to go second and cut the gap to Chelsea to just three points with a game in hand. They didn’t look back as they battered Liverpool 6-0, scoring three before the break and another three after.
This is more than a two-horse race.
The weekend started and ended the same way the whole season has gone so far. With goals from Rachel Daly and Bunny Shaw.
Daly struck for an impressive Aston Villa in their win against Spurs, who had Beth England net on her debut.
Less than 36 hours, Shaw responded in the race for the golden boot, scoring the only goal in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over West Ham
Daly and Shaw are now tied on nine WSL strikes this season.
