What a weekend of women’s football in England.

The Award for Best Turnout

The most attended women’s game in the UK all season came at Newcastle on Sunday, as 21,737 watched the fourth tier clash between Newcastle Women and Alnwick Ladies. A superb effort.

The “Four? That’s insane” Award

Back to the WSL and there’s no doubt who delivered the weekend’s standout performance, with Bunny Shaw scoring four as Manchester City won 7-2 against Brighton.

The Late Drama Award

Tottenham led Everton for 80 minutes on Sunday, having gone ahead with five on the clock. An 85th minute equaliser counted for a matter of second before Spurs retook the lead, only to concede another equaliser in stoppage time.

The Up In The Air Award

There are two midweek fixtures before next weekend’s season finale and guess what? We still don’t know the champions, the three Champions League sides, or who will be relegated.

The Sharing Is Caring Award

Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead were at their best as Arsenal beat Aston Villa 7-0 but the award goes to Kim Little, who handed a penalty over to Nikita Parris so she could finally net her 50th WSL goal, a week after Arsenal team-mates Mead and Jordan Nobbs reached the same landmark.

The Squeaky Brum Time Award

Chelsea played bottom side Birmingham on Sunday, knowing anything but a win would leave the fate of the title in Arsenal’s hands. A tight 1-0 win, thanks to a Pernille Harder penalty, kept the Blues in control of their destiny.

The Living Legend Award

Anita Asante’s final away game before retirement came at Arsenal, where she started her career. A fitting and emotional penultimate venue for a legend of English football.

The Award for Best Drama

We started in the fourth tier today and we’re wrapping up in the second, where a stunning 97th-minute goal saw Coventry survive. The Sky Blues won four and drew four of their last eight games of the season to stay up despite a 10-point deduction.

A huge congratulations to them!
