Arsenal and Chelsea had games postponed again but that didnât mean a lack of action in the WSL this weekend âŠ
Calm as you like! @StanwayGeorgia gets her second of the game đ #BarclaysFAWSL @ManCityWomen âÂ
Manchester City have won four in a row. What was all the fuss about?
A slow start to the season left a huge dent in Cityâs title hopes, which remain incredibly slim, but they are back in top form and are now well in the hunt or that third Champions League spot.
A 3-0 defeat of Aston Villa also marked a 100th WSL win for legendary midfielder Jill Scott.
Still above City in third, though, are local rivals Manchester United, who blew Birmingham away with a 5-0 win on Saturday.
You wait all season for one of the bottom sides to win, then you get two in as many weeks! Leicester had only beaten Birmingham before this weekend and Birmingham hadnât beaten anyone until their stunning defeat of league leaders Arsenal last weekend.
That win took the Blues out of the relegation spot but Leicester responded superbly to beat Brighton 1-0 on Sunday âŠ
⊠and with that, thereâs life in the relegation battle yet.
Aston Villa (1o points, one game in hand) are now in sight for Leicester (six points) and Birmingham (four points). Donât take your eyes off of the bottom places.
This could go to Birmingham, losing 5-0 after that win over Arsenal a week ago, but a late equaliser denied Tottenham a win over London rivals West Ham and was a serious blow to their hopes of surprisingly clinching third place.
Spurs still have just 13 goals in 11 games this season, 11 fewer than the next least prolific side in the top five, and are now sandwiched by the two Manchester sides. An opportunity missed?
