The WSL has unveiled its rebrand with a new visual identity and the renaming of the Championship to the WSL 2 beginning next season.

The top two leagues of English women's football are run by the WPLL (Women’s Professional Leagues Limited), which has now changed its name to WSL Football, and the company has now announced new changes in an attempt to bring the women's game forward.

The biggest change has been the name change of the Championship to the WSL2 with London City Lionesses being the final winners before the rebrand. Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town are the two promoted sides from the National League who will compete in the WSL2 next season.

"It has taken months of work, and we have spoken to clubs, fans, players and partners who have all inputted during the process and been on this journey with us," said the WSL Football CMO Ruth Hooper about the changes.

"There is a lot more in store over the coming months as we continue to grow the women’s game for the future."
