QPR, Wrexham and Wigan Athletic are all set to compete to sign a young forward from Fulham this summer
QPR, Wigan Athletic and Wrexham face competition from Hibernian in the race to sign Fulham youngster Kieron Bowie this summer.
According to Sky Sports, the Premiership side are in talks with the Cottagers over a move for the 21-year-old.
Bowie spent the last two seasons on loan at Northampton Town, where he cemented himself as a regular presence in the side.
The Scot featured 37 times during the 2022/23 campaign, contributing five goals and three assists, to help the team gain promotion to League One (all stats from Fbref).
The winger played a further 44 times for Northampton in the third tier last season, playing a key role in the club earning a 14th place finish in their first year back at that level.
Hibernian are pursuing a permanent move to sign Bowie from Fulham this summer following his impressive performances for Northampton.
The forward has just one year remaining on his current contract, meaning the London club could look to cash in now in order to avoid losing him for nothing in 2025.
But Hibs will face competition from multiple clubs in English football, across both League One and the Championship.
QPR are interested in signing the player, with Martí Cifuentes looking to bolster his attacking options ahead of the upcoming campaign, which begins this weekend.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee will be needed to convince Fulham to sell the young star.
Bowie signed for Fulham in 2020, making the switch from Raith Rovers, but he has been unable to break into the first team squad during this time.
Given his lack of playing time under Marco Silva, a move away from Craven Cottage this summer might make the most sense for his career at this stage.
Bowie now has one year of League One experience under his belt, and has shown what he can do at this level.
The winger registered nine goals and five assists last year, as Northampton established themselves as a mid-table side in the division.
The step up to the Championship could be a tempting prospect, if QPR can submit an acceptable offer to Fulham, but Wigan and Wrexham can also offer League One football for another year.
These clubs have until 30 August to finalise a deal before the window shuts for the remainder of the calendar year.
Bowie made the step up from League Two to League One quite well, and has proven himself as a very capable player at that level.
If Wigan or Wrexham were to sign him, then that would be a really solid addition to their respective squads.
The step up to the Championship would be more of a challenge, and it remains to be seen whether Bowie is quite ready for that just yet.
However, Hibs could yet still win the race to sign the winger, and they can offer top flight football, which could also prove quite tempting.
