A number of EFL sides are chasing the signature of Benji Magee from Northern Irish side Loughgall.
According to Teamtalk, the Loughgall youngster is attracting interest from several English clubs.
This includes the likes of Wrexham, Bolton Wanderers, Oxford United and Charlton Athletic, who have all been credited with an interest.
Magee has impressed many with his performances for Loughgall this campaign.
The forward has also received international recognition, earning a call-up to the Northern Ireland U21 side following his goal-scoring heroics.
Carlton Palmer believes that there is every reason for clubs to be excited by the prospect of signing Magee this summer.
However, he believes Wrexham are best placed to capture the youngster’s signature, provided they earn promotion to League One for next season.
“Several EFL clubs are chasing Northern Ireland’s rising star Benji Magee,” Palmer told Football League World.
“Benji has starred at his club Loughgall, he’s very exciting.
“He’s now been called up to the Northern Ireland U21s, so now several clubs like Wrexham, Bolton, Charlton, and Oxford are all looking to scramble for his signature.
“It’s believed that Wrexham, who could be a League One side next season, are very keen on signing the 21-year-old.
“This would be an exciting challenge for him, he’s playing regularly, he’s playing well.
“He will want to move to a club that can guarantee him first team football.
“Wrexham, as we know, have very good owners who are backing the club, so I think Wrexham, should they get promoted, would be in a very, very good position to get his signature.
“But it seems that he’s set for a big move from the Northern Irish league club this summer.”
Wrexham are hoping to earn back-to-back promotions this season, having secured their place in League Two just last year.
The club has enjoyed a meteoric rise under their new Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The pair have brought the club’s name to a more worldwide audience, helping to produce the Welcome to Wrexham docu-series.
Phil Parkinson has also earned a lot of praise for his management of the team, with the Red Dragons aiming for automatic promotion to League One this year.
With just a handful of games remaining, planning is clearly already underway for their potential summer business.
From Magee’s perspective, a move to Wrexham would be very enticing, especially if they gain promotion to League One.
This is a club on the rise, and is being well-backed by their owners, so there is every reason to think they can continue growing over the next couple of years. You only have to look at the signings they made last summer as proof of their ambition and the same is expected in the upcoming window.
Parkinson is also an accomplished coach, and the opportunity to work with him could be convincing.
Ultimately, game time is the most important factor and Wrexham should be able to provide that for an exciting young forward that has proven himself capable of consistent goals at a similar level to League One and Two already.
