Wrexham's transfer plans for their first season back in League One will be well underway as they look to continue their progression through the EFL.

Phil Parkinson's side secured their return to the third tier for the first time since 2005 in stylish fashion, hitting Forest Green Rovers for six as they earned back-to-back promotions for the first time in the club's 159-year history.

They will be joined by Stockport County, who were confirmed as champions following their win over Notts County, and Mansfield Town, who secured promotion with a home triumph over Accrington Stanley.

While the Welsh club have often recruited players from the divisions above in recent years, they may have some regret over allowing one of the Stags' top performers this term to leave the club, having played just six games for the Red Dragons during the 2019/20 campaign.

Having spent the early stages of his professional career with Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Chesterfield, Davis Keillor-Dunn moved to Scottish side Ross County in 2016.

While playing for the club's youth team, the midfielder impressed in his first season with the Staggies, helping them claim their first Development League title, and was offered a first-team contract in the summer.

He would make his debut against Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup and impressed on his first competitive league start against Partick Thistle. Keillor-Dunn would finish his first season having played 30 times in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

Despite signing a new deal at the start of the following season, the midfielder was sent on loan to Falkirk, having spent the majority of the season watching from the bench. He would score three times in 11 league appearances before leaving Ross County in September 2019 in search of more game time.

During the January transfer window in 2020, Keillor-Dunn would move to Wrexham, who were then in the National League, hopeful of helping them in their aspirations of returning to the Football League.

However, he would struggle to make the desired impact on North Wales, making just six appearances during the season, scoring once in an away victory over Bromley as the Red Dragons finished in 19th place due to the season being cut short by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Keillor-Dunn would go on to sign for then League Two side, Oldham Athletic the following season, scoring 28 goals across two seasons before completing a move to Burton Albion.

His performances with the Brewers caught the attention of Mansfield, who signed the midfielder midway through the 2022/23 campaign, and he has impressed ever since.

The 26-year-old has played an important role in the Stags' promotion this term, and despite the abundance of attacking talent within Wrexham's ranks, you feel they will be looking at Nigel Clough with envy given his return this campaign.

Keillor-Dunn's exit from the Racecourse Ground was prior to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's acquisition of the club in February 2021, but had that come sooner, the Hollywood owners may have thought twice about selling him.

But with those performances has come interest in his services, with a report by TEAMtalk in September suggesting that a number of clubs were keen for his signature in the January window, with the likes of Hull City, Millwall, Plymouth Argyle and Queens Park Rangers all linked with the midfielder.

While the likes of Elliot Lee and Andy Cannon have proven excellent goal-scoring options for the Welsh side since their arrival at the club, many are left wondering if Keillor-Dunn had remained at the club, how many goals Phil Parkinson's side could have scored in seasons gone by.
