Wrexham have already completed two transfer coups on deadline day - and they could be set to add a third in the final hours of the window.

League Two's second-placed side had been quiet throughout the mid-season transfer market, with plenty of league and cup matches to keep the club occupied and to see whether deals would fall into their laps - and they have done with precious little time to spare.

Versatile right-sided Salford City player Luke Bolton and Fleetwood Town striker Jack Marriott have already arrived at the Racecourse Ground early on in the morning, but Phil Parkinson is looking to add more strings to his bow.

And according to the Daily Mail's Nathan Salt, the North Wales outfit are close to agreeing a fee with Championship strugglers Rotherham United to bring Jamie Lindsay to the club.

The 28-year-old Scottish central midfielder has played just 12 times for the Millers in their 2023-24 league campaign, having missed a large portion of the season through injury, and with less than six months to go on his contract, they are set to cash in on his services.

A fee is yet to be fully agreed, but Wrexham are closing in on yet another eye-catching addition to their side as they challenge for promotion to League One.

Lindsay joined Rotherham back in the summer of 2019, making the move south of the border from Ross County at a time when United were a League One club under Paul Warne, with reports claiming they paid £300,000 to the Staggies for his services.

He played a part in their immediate promotion back to the Championship and then started regularly in the 2020-21 season in the second tier of English football, appearing 35 times and scoring three goals as they were unfortunately once again relegated back to League One.

Reduced to somewhat of a squad player under Warne in 2021-22 back in the third tier, Lindsay has had spells in and out of the starting 11 for the last two-and-a-half years with Rotherham, but since the start of December 2023 he has started pretty regularly for the South Yorkshire side.

However, his time looks likely to be coming to an end and Wrexham are set to add a player with plenty of Championship and also promotion-winning experience to their squad if they can agree a fee.

Lindsay deal would prove that Wrexham's pulling power is second to none

The pull of Wrexham to bring the calibre of player they are doing down to League Two is undeniable.

And whilst Lindsay isn't the flashiest of names to be linked to, unlike say a Jack Marriott who is a proven goalscorer at the level above, what the Scot would bring is experience of playing regularly in the Championship and at the top end of League One.

Adding Lindsay to the likes of Andy Cannon, Tom O'Connor and George Evans in the midfield positions at the Racecourse Ground would give Phil Parkinson an embarrassment of riches, especially with the likes of Elliot Lee, Paul Mullin and Steven Fletcher further up the pitch.

A deal is not done yet by any means, but Lindsay would be a shrewd addition and should promotion be achieved this season, he is a player that would fit seamlessly in at League One level too.
