Paul Robinson is adamant Liverpool are a “great team” despite Patrice Evra suggesting otherwise on Sunday night.
The former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, hailed the work Jurgen Klopp has done at Anfield to turn the Reds into “winners”.
Sky Sports pundit Patrice Evra claimed the Premier League champions need to win three successive domestic titles to be regarded as one of the truly “great” Liverpool sides.
His comments came after the 19-time champions of England put down a marker in this season’s title race with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City with a depleted side on Sunday.
When asked by Football Insider if he agreed with the former Manchester United defender’s view, Robinson said: “No.
“Liverpool have been amazing over the past 18 months. Since Jurgen Klopp has gone in there he has moulded them into winners.
“Champions League final, Champions League winners, Premier League winners – if that is not the mark of a great team, wow, then I am not sure what is.
“I certainly have not been part of a great team myself but I have been part of good teams.
“Whether it is because of how decorated Patrice Evra is as a footballer or whether it is Liverpool-Manchester United thing that team is certainly up there.
“I understand the point about consistency but Liverpool have been showing that level of consistency for a number of years now.”
