The Baggies are currently 21st in the Championship table having only won one of their opening 10 league games this season.

But this Albion supporter believes there are many factors at play that can explain the team’s start to the campaign.

While some of the blame does lie at Bruce’s feet, he also believes the players have let him down with some of their performances, and that succeeding under the current ownership structure is an incredibly difficult task as it is.

However, he does cite that he would be open to a change of manager if it was an obvious upgrade, such as Sean Dyche, but that isn’t seen as a realistic target given the club’s current position.

This West Brom fan does admit that Bruce’s dismissal would likely be received well by the fanbase, but that it also isn’t a silver bullet that will solve all of the team’s issues overnight.

“It’s a difficult one. A lot of Albion fans think Steve Bruce should be sacked,” Matt told Football League World.

“However, it is not black and white for me.

“I don’t think you have to either be Steve Bruce needs to be sacked or Steve Bruce has to be manager.

“Would I like to see Sean Dyche come in tomorrow? Yeah, I’ll take that any day of the week.

“Do I think it would happen? No. And do I think Albion’s lacklustre start season is all down to Steve Bruce? Not at all.

“I think we’ve played some good stuff and been unlucky.

“However, there’s certain things he could do better, but I do think he’d been let down by a few players and massively the board and everything around the club is just a nightmare.

“I don’t think any manager could really succeed or it’d be a bit of a miracle if they could so I’m gonna refrain from saying Steve Bruce is the right man.

“However, don’t think he’s, he’s fully to blame for Albion’s start to the season.

“A change wouldn’t go down badly. However, I don’t think it’s the first thing that needs to be done to try and turn the tide at Albion.”

West Brom return to Championship action this weekend when they face Swansea City on 1 October.

The Baggies will be looking to end a five game run without a win in the league.

The Verdict

It is evident that there is a lot of negativity surrounding the atmosphere at the Hawthorns given the home supporters have been booing their own players in recent weeks.

Bruce has a squad of players capable of getting good results that should be competing in the top half of the division.

But a failure to convert dominant performances from draws into wins has cost them dearly already.

This Saturday represents the last real chance for the 61-year old to start turning things around, as another defeat could signal the end of his tenure with the club.
