Denis Japel suffered a sickening injury in Chemie Leipzig’s match on the weekend.
Japel was in the starting lineup for his side’s Regionalliga Nordost game against Chemnitzer FC on Saturday.
Chemie Leipzig emerged victorious at Stadion Chemnitz.
Dannis Mast scored the only goal of the game in the 79th minute to give the away side all three points.
Japel was forced off through a scary injury in the 26th minute.
The 24-year-old did everything he could to stop the ball going out of play for a goal-kick.
He successfully managed to do so but slipped on the concrete floor and his momentum saw him go head first into a wall.
Japel was knocked out after hitting the wall and slumped to the floor.
He needed treatment and was quickly put in a recovery position by a teammate.
Japel was able to walk get to his feet and walk off the pitch by himself.
He was later taken to hospital for medical checks.
Fortunately, it appears Japel has avoided a major injury.
He spent a day in hospital before being released the following day.
Chemie Leipzig wrote on their Twitter page: “This morning Denis was picked up from the hospital by Uwe Thomas. He is doing well given the circumstances, but will rest until about the middle of next week. We wish you a speedy recovery – come back soon, Denis!”

Chemie Leipzig have climbed up the Regionalliga Nordost table following their victory.
They have moved up to sixth in the league having accumulated 13 points from their opening seven games.
They are five points behind the early pace-setters, Berliner AK 07.
Chemie Leipzig will be looking to gain promotion after finishing ninth in the 21/22 season.
