With Harry Kane and Jordan Henderson injured, Kyle Walker stepped in as England captain for their friendly against Brazil. However, the injury curse seems to have struck him as he was subbed off after less than 20 minutes at Wembley.

The 33-year-old had done brilliantly well to deny Vini Jr. the opening goal, stopping the Brazil and Real Madrid forward’s shot just before it went over the line.

Just moments later though, he was down on the Wembley turf holding his hamstring. After some treatment, he returned to the game but was subbed off shortly after for Ezri Konsa, who made his international debut in a bittersweet moment.

It looked to be a precaution but it will be a nervous wait for both Gareth Southgate and Pep Guardiola in the coming days.
