Both Qatar and Senegal face a potential knockout from the FIFA World Cup, as they take on each other in an important clash on Friday.

Qatar, despite a spirited second half showing, fell to a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador in the first game of the tournament at the end of last week. Senegal meanwhile, had lost 2-0 to the Netherlands, who will take on Ecuador in their game later today.

With Senegal at third and Qatar rock bottom of the table, a loss for either one of them could almost nullify their chances of making it to the next round of competition.

Team news:

Abdou Diallo is set to return for Senegal, which has been confirmed by the side already but Cheikhou Kouyate will be out, as he was stretchered off in the game against the Netherlands. Reports have stated that Eduoard Mendy could be dropped after his poor performance against the Dutch side.

Qatar have a clean bill of health, although Saad Al Sheeb can be dropped after his dismal showing in the opening game.
