The time has come for England to begin their 2022 World Cup campaign as they take on Iran on Monday lunchtime.

Despite being backed by the bookies as contenders, England come into this game winless in their last six, something that will give this Iran side faith and hope of claiming what would be an historic win.

Gareth Southgate and his Lions will be hoping to put that right against a solid Iran side led by the management of Carlos Queiroz who is no stranger to England himself.

Harry Kane will lead out this England side who have impressed a the previous two competitions (2018 World Cup and 2021 Euros), and will be attempting to go one better in Qatar.

One possible factor worth noting could be that England players have seemed to be struggling with the heat in Qatar, something Iran don’t have to worry about.
