Manchester United technical director Darren Fletcher has recently been talking about Liverpool and Scotland left-back Andy Robertson.
Scotland came up against Czech Republic at the Euros earlier this week. Scotland lost the aforementioned clash 2-0.
Despite that being the case, Fletcher did find a positive from a Scotland point of view.
Fletcher implied that Robertson performed to a “world-class” level against Czech Republic. Fletcher added that the Scotland captain drove his team forward throughout the match.
“Andy Robertson is a world-class left-back, it’s simple as that,” Fletcher told Match of the Day, as quoted by HITC. “And he showed that here [against Czech Republic].
“A captain’s performance. Drove the team forward. Led the team. He does for Liverpool and he does for Scotland. He’s fantastic.
“But he won’t think about that. He won’t think ‘Oh, well I played well’. The team lost 2-0 and he was captain. That’s all he’ll think about.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We completely agree with Fletcher. Robertson is a top left-back.
The Reds signed Robertson from Hull City for a transfer fee of €9 million back in the summer of 2017.
Robertson now possesses a current market value of €65 million. The aforementioned figure highlights just how good he has been for Liverpool.
Robertson is a terrific full-back going forward. The 27-year-old has scored five goals and registered 37 assists in 177 appearances for the club.
