“Won’t get a move” – Rangers fans stuck with Alfie if he doesn’t man up

Alfredo Morelos’ contract at Rangers remains a matter of great concern, and speaking today to Ibrox Noise and Grosvenor Sports, club legend Ally McCoist believes his form has dipped badly and he won’t get the move today he would have 18 months ago.

El-Bufalo of course was the subject of a €20 bid from French giants Lille, but Rangers rejected it in what is looking like some of the worst business the club has ever done, with the wisdom of 20/20 hindsight.

And Ally doesn’t think that kind of offer is coming back, and Morelos’ own form and attitude are mostly to blame.

He said:

“On recent form, Alfredo Morelos won’t get a move at the same level he could’ve been at 18 months ago. Obviously, his injury hasn’t helped but he hasn’t reached the level required since the setback so he needs to regain a little bit of form if he wants to secure a move at the same level as Rangers are at. I’m a little concerned that their (Morelos and Kent) contracts have been allowed to run down and as I said, the next couple of months are going to be vital.”

He’s again not wrong, we are hearing whispers that an unnamed side has submitted intention to bid Rangers around £8M for Morelos, but we can’t confirm that. Not quite the £16.5M from 18+ months ago, and Morelos only has himself to blame for that.

Yes, he has been injured, but his attitude hasn’t been anywhere near professional enough and if he wants the move out of Ibrox, he will need to impress over the next month to get that precontract he’s almost certainly looking for in January.

There are words to the effect of Michael Beale getting the best out of the Colombian, but he has to want to stay at Rangers for that to happen, and we’re pretty sure he’ll be on the phone come January 1st trying his hardest to get the move he wants.

Doubt it’ll be to Lille though, another sliding door there for a Rangers man with where the French giants went after that…
