A team of wonderkids to watch over the next few weeks as the U21 Euros takes place? You’ve got it!

We settled upon a 4-2-3-1, opened up Transfermarkt, and picked the highest value players at this summer’s tournament to fit them into our formation.

Obviously some players are highly valued but didn’t win out in their position — sorry to Pedro Neto (€32m), Harvey Elliott (€35m), Youssoufa Moukoko (€30m) and more — but we’ve got a sensational side worth a grand total of €403m. Keep your eyes peeled for them.

🇬🇪 Giorgi Mamardshvili (€25m)

The Valencia goalkeeper has a €100m release clause and beats Leeds’ Illan Meslier (€22m) to the gloves.

🇫🇷 Mohamed Simakan (€28m)

A versatile defender with an incredible stride, the RB Leipzig man has been linked with Arsenal and can comfortably slot in at either right-back or centre-half.

🇫🇷 Pierre Kalulu (€30m)

Already a Milan regular and a Serie A winner, Kalulu has shone since joining from Lyon.

🇮🇹 Giorgio Scalvini (€40m)

Just 19 but already starring for Atalanta, Scalvini is exceptional with and without the ball.

🇮🇹 Destiny Udogie (€25m)

Signed by Tottenham last summer, Udogie remained at Udinese for another campaign. Now Spurs fans can get a good luck and an idea of how Ange Postecoglou may use him.

Milan midfielder already has 14 senior caps to his name and is one of the biggest names at the tournament..

🇫🇷 Khéphren Thuram (€32m)

Brother of Marcus, son of Lilian, and reported Liverpool target. Thuram is a superbly gifted midfielder and could build on an already impressive reputation this time around. Valued the same as England’s Jacob Ramsey.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Anthony Gordon (€40m)

Gordon moved to Newcastle last January and will be playing Champions League football in 2023/24. England will be leaning on him to be a difference maker this summer.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Emile Smith Rowe (€38m)

The Arsenal midfielder missed almost all of last season through injuries and fitness struggles but his market value remains above that of team-mate Harvey Elliott (€35m), who made 46 Liverpool appearances in 2023/24.

🇺🇦 Mykhailo Mudryk (€60m)

It’s fair to say Chelsea’s big money January signing hasn’t shone at club level just yet but maybe this will be an opportunity for the Ukrainian to find some form.

🇫🇷 Amine Gouiri (€35m)

The 23-year-old scored 15 Ligue 1 goals for Rennes last season having already hit double figures for Nice in the two previous campaigns.
