Hwang Hee-chan, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Boubacour Traore will now be on international duty in January.

Wolves started the game brightly with Hwang Hee-chan having two chances within the first eight minutes, but his attempts on goal were defended by Everton.

The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute, an inviting cross from Matheus Cunha deflected off Jarrad Branthwaite and nearly rolled into his own net however Jordan Pickford done well to keep it out, luckily for Wolves captain Max Kilman was there to stab the ball home for his first goal of the season. The English defender then made a touching tribute to his teammate Mario Lemina, who’s father passed away in recent days, by holding up the number 5’s shirt.

This was Max Kilman’s second goal for Wolves, both goals have been at Molineux and against Everton.

Wolves continued their attacking pressure when Matheus Cunha took a long-range shot which was just inches wide. Nelson Semedo also created a chance as he flashed the ball across the box and was just ahead of Pablo Sarabia, who was free in the box.

Everton created chances through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, his first attempt was wide of the target and his second attempt was denied by Jose Sa in a one vs one when he attempted to dribble past the Portuguese international however the offside flag was raised.

Wolves went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Wolves deserved their lead and should have scored more goals. They corrected this in the 53rd minute, when Pablo Sarabia played the ball through to Hwang who unselfishly played a pass on a plate for his Brazilian teammate Cunha who tapped the ball into the back of the net.

The Old Gold were ruthless in attack, and scored a third in the 60th minute, Matheus Cunha crossed a teasing ball into the box and veteran Craig Dawson done well to make contact and convert it home.

The toffees biggest chance of the second half came to Dwight McNeil as the ball fell nicely to him at the edge of the area, an audacious strike had Jose Sa beaten however the number seven’s effort stuck the post.

Wolves continued their attacking threat and found the back of the net twice with Hwang Hee-chan and substitute Pedro Neto, however the flag was raised for offside on both attempts on goal.

This result allowed Wolves to sign off 2023 in style.

Going forward, the toffees will travel to Crystal Palace for an FA Cup game on January 4th.

Wolves’ next game will be away at Brentford for an FA Cup game on January 5th.
