From the euphoria of reaching the knock-out stages of the Women's World Cup to the heartbreak of elimination - it's a game of fine margins.

City and Canada striker Janine Beckie had played a key role in helping her country to the last 16, claiming a match-winning assist in the opening day win over Cameroon and featuring in every game since.

Against Sweden in the Round of 16 however, her luck would turn as she saw a penalty superbly saved by Hedvig Lindahl to send the Scandinavians - featuring former City player Kosovare Asllani - through and the 2015 quarter-finalists home.

Despite the agony, Beckie and co. remained courageous in defeat, as our Image of the Day depicts, with Canada's all-time top goalscorer Christine Sinclair consoling our heartbroken heroine, while the Swedes celebrate.

Commiserations to Canada. Congratulations to Sweden.
