Women’s Friendly Internationals brought a 3-1 Matildas’ victory over Brazil, while Canada and Mexico enjoyed clear wins.

Australia’s 3-1 win over Brazil was witnessed by more than 15,000 in Sydney, where Clare Polkinghorne opened the scoring approaching half time. Mary Fowler doubled the lead midway through the second half. Although Adriana swiftly pulled a goal back, Emily van Egmond sealed the victory with ten minutes remaining.

Chelsea’s Jessie Fleming put Canada in front with a penalty kick, Christine Sinclair doubling the advantage over New Zealand by the interval. Nichelle Prince netted the third, Tottenham’s Ria Percival replied but West Ham’s Adriana Leon struck twice in seven minutes for a 5-1 result.

Argentina took the lead away to Mexico through Florencia Bonsegundo but the hosts hit back before the break with a brace by Stephany Mayor, the first coming from the spot. Alison Gonzalez added a second-half double, Maria Sanchez and Joseline Montoya also on target as Brazil ran out 6-1 winners.

Colombia defeated Chile 2-0, Linda Caicedo getting the first goal and the late second coming from Manuela Vanegas.

Puerto Rico were pegged back by an equaliser from Guyana and then missed a penalty, before Sophia Muetterties grabbed them an 83rd-minute decider.

In the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier 1st Round 2nd Leg, Kenya sunk South Sudan 7-1, while Zenatha Coleman netted all three goals for Namibia as they edged Tanzania 3-2, for a 5-3 aggregate win.
