England vs Brazil — FIFA Rankings

England are currently ranked fourth in the world by FIFA. The Lionesses are undefeated in two years and are yet to suffer a loss under Sarina Wiegman.

From lifting the Euro 2022 trophy, to enjoying a 2-1 win over the USA in front of a sold out Wembley, England have enjoyed an outstanding past 12 months.

Brazil currently sit in ninth in the FIFA world rankings, just two places above their lowest place to date. Brazil secured their ticket to the Finalissima off the back of a strong Copa America display. However, the South American side have won just one game so far in 2023 following a disappointing SheBelieves Cup campaign.

England vs Brazil — Previous meetings

England and Brazil have met on three occasions over the past five years, with the Lionesses winning two of these encounters. The most recent meeting was back in October 2019, where Brazil enjoyed a 2-1 victory.

The previous three matches have provided seven goals, however just one of the previous goal-scorers will feature in tonight’s meeting.

So who could be the ones to watch?

England vs Brazil — Players to watch

England have a variety of goalscoring options with seven different names on the scoresheet in their previous three games. Chloe Kelly is a constant threat from the wing, while Rachel Daly is currently on an excellent goalscoring run for both club and country.

Brazil are currently without several key players. Debinha, Angelina, Lorena and Tainara are all ruled out of the Finalissima through injury.

Brazil’s all-time leading scorer Marta has also been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury. The Orlando Pride star has bagged 115 goals in 175 games over a 23-year career.

Despite key absences, Brazil still has several strong goal threats. Barcelona’s Geyse Ferreira has found the back of the net 10 times throughout the season.

Where to watch

Tonight’s match will be shown live on ITV with kick-off scheduled for 19:45 BST.

In the event of a draw after 90 minutes, the game will go straight to penalties to determine the first ever Finalissima winner.
