Sunday saw the second half of Womenâs FA Cup quarter-final ties completed.
Hereâs how it all wentâŚ.
Scorers: Catarina Macario 66â˛
Despite the gulf in position in the Womenâs Super League, it was an altogether even start to the game, with neither side seemingly keen to seize the initiative in the tie and an injury to Chelsea defender Nathalie Bjorn disrupted any early flow.
Though Chelsea edged the possession, they did little with it and the only efforts of note in the first half an hour came from the home side. However, they grew into the encounter and began to dominate the game either side of the interval.
That domination wasnât properly rewarded until after the hour mark, when a cutback from Aggie Beever-Jones was met by substitute Catarina Macario, who bundled the ball home and handed her side a precious lead.
Emma Hayesâ side couldnât find the second to put the tie to bed, but they held their nerve into stoppage time to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition in a bid to lift the FA Cup for the fourth consecutive season.
Tottenham provided the shock of the round by knocking out high flying Manchester City to book their place in the last 4 of the competition, knocking out the Cityzens on penalties.
Scorers: Fowler 6â˛; England 90+6â˛
Unlike Chelsea, title challengers Manchester City wasted no time going about their work in the second quarter final. After just 6 minutes they took the lead, as Mary Fowler drilled home from just outside the Tottenham penalty area.
That domination continued throughout the opening 45 minutes at Brisbane Road, with the hosts seeing just 30% possession and having just a solitary shot on target to show for their efforts come the half time whistle.
The second half appeared to be heading in the same direction, with Spurs struggling to create anything against the visitors, but City could not find the second goal to kill off the tie.
And that ultimately came back to bite them deep in added time when Bethany England, a second half substitute, levelled the tie and sent it into extra time.
Spurs continued to defend resolutely, with City lacking ideas on how to break down the home side in the first part of extra time. As the clock ticked down, both sides had chances to book their place in the last 4, but the threat of penalties eventually beckoned.
City skipper Alex Greenwood was the first to blink, seeing her effort from 12 yards saved. As Bethany England converted for Spurs, it went from bad for worse for the visitors, with Chloe Kelly also having her spot-kick saved in a nightmare start.
They were just about kept in the tie when Rosella Ayaneâs miss kept Spurs just one ahead, and with Yui Hasegawa finally getting City on the board, it remained tense.
Amanda Nilden restored Tottenhamâs lead, before successful spot kicks from Filippa Angeldal and Wang Shuang meant that City had run out of road. They had to score. Mary Fowler obliged, but Amy Turner scored Spursâ fourth of the shootout, and completed what was a major upset, with Spurs joining Chelsea in the last 4 of the competition.
