We have reached the final group games at Women’s Euro 2025, and here our permutations guide reveals what teams need to do to qualify for the quarter-finals, which nations have already qualified, and who is already preparing for the flight home.
Norway have already secured their spot in the quarter-finals of Euro 2025 and will finish top of their group.
The side managed by English coach Gemma Grainger have claimed hard-fought victories against Switzerland and Finland.
Neither Finland or Switzerland can overtake Norway, as the first tiebreaker if points are level is head-to-head record.
Iceland crashed out of Euro 2025 after defeats to Finland and Switzerland.
It all comes down to the clash between Finland and Switzerland. Although the nations are level on points, the pressure is on Finland going into Thursday’s match.
Switzerland have the superior goal difference meaning that a draw would be enough to qualify for the quarter-finals. Nothing less than a win will do for Finland.
According to the UK’s top betting websites, Switzerland are favourites to win and advance to the quarter-finals.
Spain have already qualified for the quarter-finals after scoring 11 goals in their two games against Portugal and Belgium.
Belgium twice pulled Spain level but ultimately lost 6-2 to the tournament favourites in their second group-stage game. They are officially out of the tournament and will hope to finish strongly against Portugal.
Portugal kept their Euro 2025 hopes alive thanks to Diana Gomes’ 89th-minute equaliser against Italy last time out.
However, their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals are hanging by a thread.
Portugal can match Italy on four points if they beat Belgium, and if Spain take all three points against the Italians.
However, it would likely go down to goal difference between the two nations and Portugal’s 5-0 defeat to Spain puts them hugely on the backfoot.
Portugal can only qualify if results go there way and if there is a six-goal swing between them and Italy.
Group C has already been decided with Germany and Sweden reaching the quarter-finals, and Denmark and Poland both crashing out.
All that remains to be decided is whether Germany or Sweden finish top of the group.
Sweden know a point will be enough for them to top the group thanks to goal difference, while Germany will need a victory.
Group D is the only group where all four teams can still technically qualify, though for Wales, it looks very unlikely.
England are in a much stronger place now than they were before their 4-0 victory against the Netherlands.
If England beat Wales on Sunday, they are through. England will also qualify with a draw if France avoids defeat to the Netherlands.
Should Sarina Wiegman’s side lose to Wales, they will also need the Netherlands to lose against France. This would send the decision between England, Netherlands, and Wales to goal difference between the three, where England’s current margin of +4 puts them in a strong position.
If England and the Netherlands win, it would come down to goal difference in the clashes involving those two nations and France. This is where the Netherlands are at a significant disadvantage due to their 4-0 loss to England.
Wales can qualify if they beat England by at least four goals and France beat the Netherlands.
Below we list how the finishing position of groups at Women’s Euro 2025 are decided if teams are level on points.
