England shirt numbers for Euro 2022 this summer have been confirmed, with Leah Williamson to wear number eight in her first major tournament as Lionesses captain.
Despite being a centre-back by trade for Arsenal, Williamson has typically played in midfield under England coach Sarina Wiegman and her jersey this summer reflects that.
Veteran striker Ellen White will wear England’s number nine shirt at a major tournament for the first time since Euro 2013, having been assigned 18 at her last two tournaments and 23 before that. She did, however, wear nine at last summer's Olympics under the Great Britain flag.
Rapidly emerging star Lauren Hemp takes 11 at her first senior England tournament, with seven going to Beth Mead. The number 10 shirt has gone to new Bayern Munich signing Georgia Stanway, while Fran Kirby occupies 14, the same digits she wears for Chelsea.
Goalkeeper Mary Earps has landed the number one shirt as expected, highlighting her status as Wiegman’s undisputed first choice. Her Manchester United teammate Ella Toone has been given 20, while fellow United talent Alessia Russo gets 23, her club number.
Rachel Daly has been favoured in the number three shirt over Demi Stokes, who wore it at Euro 2017 and for Great Britain at last summer’s Olympics. Centre-backs Alex Greenwood and Millie Bright take five and six respectively, with Lucy Bronze in her usual number two shirt.
Jill Scott, who is in between clubs after leaving Manchester City, will wear number 16 at her eighth major tournament with England. It was the same shirt she wore at her very first in 2007.
