Atletico Madrid are planning a rampage sale in January in the hopes of revamping their squad. They have suffered an embarrassing exit from the Champions League, and need to sell players before they can buy anyone.

One of the players linked with an exit was Matheus Cunha, with Wolverhampton Wanderers interested in signing him in January. However, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation recently.

The reliable journalist has claimed that Wolves are in talks with Atletico Madrid for both Cunha and Felipe. Both players could be included in the same transfer as a package deal as the Premier League outfit are looking for January reinforcements.

Cunha has often been playing second fiddle to Antoine Griezmann, Alvaro Morata, and Joao Felix this season. He has clocked 11 appearances (two starts) in the league, setting up two assists while scoring none.

Felipe, meanwhile, is struggling on the bench, as well, with just two appearances in La Liga. Diego Simeone has been using him as the sixth-choice centre-back, with even Axel Witsel ahead of him in the pecking order in that position.

Cunha was signed for nearly €26 million by Atletico Madrid in 2021, and will likely fetch nearly €30 million, while it seems unlikely that Felipe will cost anything over €2-5 million as a 33-year-old out-of-favour centre-back.

Atleti are also reportedly ready to negotiate the sale of Joao Felix in January, with his price tag set over €100 million. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing him, but more teams are expected to join the race.
