Wolves captain Conor Coady has discussed his side’s improvement last season, even if some of the club’s supporters were ultimately left disappointed with a 10th placed finish.

Wolves ended up in seventh at the end of the 2019/20 campaign under former boss Nuno Espírito Santo, leading to what the defender sees as raised expectations.

“It’s improvement,” the 29-year-old told the Express and Star. “A lot of people might not be happy with that but in terms of us, we’ve improved, and we need to keep on doing that.

“It’s been a season where mid-way through we had higher hopes, because we were fighting for different things and were in the mix.

“That probably made us victims of our own success because everyone is then expecting you to be there.

“The last few weeks were massively disappointing but we’ll rest up over the summer and make sure we’re ready to come back.”

Coady is correct in that 10th did better the 13th place achieved in 2020/21, even if it wasn’t what fans were hoping for.
