Wolverhampton Wanderers are to hold talks for two of the most sought-after players in South America, Gabriel Barbosa and Enzo Fernandez, 90min understands.

Wolves chief scout Matthew Hobbs is travelling to both Brazil and Argentina in the coming days, where he will look to try and broker deals for Barbosa - better known as Gabigol - and Fernandez, having already talked to intermediaries from both camps.

Gabigol was targeted by Wolves in January, as well as Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa, but his club Flamengo were not willing to do a deal.

90min now understands that they are willing to talk business and Wolves are hoping they could lure the Brazilian international striker to Molineux.

The 25-year-old, who hopes to lead the line for Brazil at the World Cup, is also wanted by Turkish giants Fenerbahce along while Villa and Newcastle are still keeping tabs on his situation.

Hobbs is also due in Argentina to talk to River Plate about Argentine international midfielder Fernandez.

The 21-year-old has a been linked with some of Europe's top clubs, including Manchester United and Barcelona, but more recently Benfica had looked like they were favourites to land him.

But now Wolves are making a bid for Fernandez and are confident they could bring him to England - where he is likely to be seen as Ruben Neves' long-term replacement.

Wolves are hoping they could bring the pair in for less than £50m combined, but they also know they need to try and move quickly - given the news of their bids could generate more rival interest in the pair.
