Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa has sensationally revealed Wolves paid FOUR TIMES more than they needed to in order to sign Fabio Silva.
Pinto da Costa says Silva could've left for a knockdown fee thanks to a buyout clause in his Porto contract, but the work of agent Jorge Mendes saw Wolves pay well over the odds.
He told TVI: "Mendes was an excellent agent ... for Porto.
"Fabio had a 10 million euro clause and was sold for 40. We earned 20 million by cashing in 30 instead of 10.
"Strange deal? It was a great deal and Mendes was certainly important."
Silva moved to Wolves on September 5.
