Wolves ‘resigned to losing’ Neves and set £40m price-tag with Premier League trio circling | OneFootball

Wolves would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £40million for Ruben Neves this summer, according to reports.

Neves joined the Premier League club from FC Porto back in 2017, following Nuno Espirito Santo to Molineux.

The Portugal international’s contract expires in 15 months, meaning Wolves might be looking to cash in at the end of the season.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked with Neves in recent years.

Given his contract situation, all three could be in a fierce battle to land the midfielder on a cut-price deal.

According to The Sun (via The Boot Room), Wolves will ‘consider’ bids worth £40m for Neves.

The 26-year-old was previously valued at around £80m, which put off the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, paying half that price for a player of Neves’ quality – on top of his vast Premier League experience – would be terrific business.

Wolves are ‘resigned to losing’ the player this summer and Arsenal are named in the report as one of his long-term admirers.

As well as the Gunners, Manchester United and Newcastle United get a mention.

Arsenal signed Jorginho from Chelsea in January after failing to land Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, but are expected to bring in another midfielder this summer.

West Ham United captain Declan Rice is reportedly their top target, though Chelsea remain keen. Champions League football could be key in the race to land the England midfielder.

The Mirror also report that Wolves are ‘resigned to losing’ Neves in the summer transfer window.

It is said that United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are all interested in signing the midfielder.

Wolves, understandably, would prefer to sell to a club abroad. Barcelona are skint, however, and Madrid are looking to sign Jude Bellingham and probably won’t pursue Neves unless Toni Kroos or Luka Modric leave.

The Molineux club expected Neves to depart last summer and were ‘delighted’ that he stayed and the two parties maintain an ‘excellent relationship’.

The report claims that Neves would probably pen a new deal in September if he fails to land a transfer, in order to preserve his value and deny clubs the opportunity to land him for nothing in 2024.

Meanwhile, 90min claim that Wolves are aiming to offer the 26-year-old a new contract before then.

Neves’ agent, Jorge Mendes, has told interested clubs that the player is open to a move this summer, the report states.

This report adds Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid to the mix.

Speaking last month, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claimed that Neves could play for any team in Europe.

“It’s interesting that you should say about Neves, he’s been at Wolves quite a long time,” Neville told his colleague Jamie Carragher.
