The likes of West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town and Norwich City have all been credited with an interest in the youngster recently.

Rotherham United club statement

After the above news broke, Rotherham United themselves released a club statement.

themillers.co.uk read: "Rotherham United can confirm that defender Dexter Lembikisa has been recalled by his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"The 20-year-old joined the Millers in July last year and went on to make 27 competitive appearances across all competitions whilst on loan in South Yorkshire.

"Lembikisa managed one goal whilst at AESSEAL New York Stadium which arguably marked the highlight of his loan stint at the club and came in the form of a rocket of a strike in the 2-1 win over Norwich City.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Dexter for his efforts whilst representing the club and wish him all the best for the future."

Fortunately for Rotherham United, they do have cover in the position after they recently recalled Peter Kioso from his loan spell at Peterborough United.

As touched upon above, there is widespread Championship interest in Lembikisa after his performances at the New York Stadium so far this season.

These teams will now be on alert, particularly with the Rotherham Advertiser claiming that Wolves intend to send the 20-year-old out on loan to another Championship side for the remainder of the campaign.

, Wolves have already held talks with a number of second-tier sides over a potential deal for the defender.

These include West Brom, Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Norwich as mentioned earlier.

Dexter Lembikisa's season so far

Whilst he has now left Rotherham, clearly Dexter Lembikisa's first half of the campaign on loan at the club has been a success.

Before this season, Lembikisa had made just four senior appearances for Wolves. However, having played 27 times for Rotherham, he leaves a far more experienced player.

Not only that, during his loan spell with the Millers, Lembikisa also continued to earn a spot in the Jamaica national team, taking his international caps tally to 10 at present.
